Grameen Motsho O Pashu Sampad Foundation has executed the community- based fisheries management project “Under Fourth Fisheries Project funded by IDA, GEF, DFID and implemented by Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Bangladesh. |
The objective of the project is to support sustainable growth and equitable distribution of the benefits generated from increased fish and shrimp production for domestic consumption and export. |

Improve the capacity of local users to manage aquatic resources in a sustainable and equitable fashion. |

GMPF has been implementing two water bodies namely NPBSS Beels with 1000 ha water area in Gobindagonj upazilla of Gaibandha district and Ichamati River in Pabna with 412 ha of waterbodies in Santhia and Bera Upazilla in Pabna districts. In Gaibandha GMPF has formed 23 village organizations (VOs), and one Fisheries Management Committee (FMC) in 23 villages involving 586 members and in Ichamati River GMPF has formed 28 Fisheries sub-committee (FSC) and one Fisheries Management Committee covering 66 villages and involving 2020 members. In the meantime the activities of NPBSS beel has been dropped from 30th July, 2004. |
